The public is invited to weigh in on a slate of proposed transportation improvements along Holmberg Road in Parkland during an upcoming meeting, officials said.
The Florida Department of Transportation is holding the meeting in two different formats, virtual and in-person, on Thursday, September 30.
The proposed construction project would span Holmberg Road from Heron Bay Boulevard to Pine Island Road, a little over half a mile.
The road work would include: Restriping to accommodate bike lanes for westbound and eastbound lanes; widening to add a right-turn lane to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School; upgrading pedestrian signals, pavement markings, and signage; and resurfacing pavement, according to FDOT.
During paving operations, one direction of Holmberg Road would be closed and detoured via Trails End. Access to schools would be maintained throughout the project, as no sidewalk closures or roadway detours are allowed during school hours, transportation officials said.
The project would begin in Summer 2022 and end in Fall 2022, officials said. The estimated cost of the construction is $600,000, according to FDOT.
The virtual public meeting will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 30. To attend from a computer, tablet, or smartphone, register using the following link: register.gotowebinar.com
Participants can also use their phone by dialing 914-614-3426 and entering access code 684-317-325.
The in-person public meeting will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., using an open house format, at the City of Parkland Library, 6620 N. University Drive. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.
