Monarch High School graduate Riley Ingram is officially a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Championship after winning a title with Keiser University on Monday.
“Winning a national championship, especially the first one in a relatively young program, is a very special moment for the players and the coaches,” Ingram said. “That can never be recreated again, and is a very big and pivotal moment in the program because now you have to go do it again and uphold the expectation.”
A 2021 graduate, Reilly made his college debut as a sophomore. He played in his first game on September 30 against Thomas University and also played in games against Warner, Ave Maria, and Bebber International. Keiser finished the season 12-2 and also on an 11-game win streak after starting 1-2.
The Seahawks came into the postseason as the fourth seed. They recorded wins against St. Thomas, Bethel, and The College of Idaho, outscoring their opponents 129-56 before a matchup against top-seeded Northeastern College on Monday. Keiser went on to win 31-21.
