A Monarch High School student was arrested Wednesday after police said he had uploaded numerous videos and photos of young children being raped and sexually abused.
Police said they also found bestiality images and other illegal pornography in the digital possession of Marlon Miranda, 18, of Coconut Creek. He was charged with eleven felonies, including numerous counts of possessing materials depicting child sex abuse, according to an arrest affidavit.
Coconut Creek Police detectives launched an investigation into Miranda on February 1, 2024, after the social media platforms Snapchat, Discord, and X reported the uploading of child porn by a poster later identified as Miranda, the affidavit states.
The materials showed girls as young as four or five being sexually assaulted, police said.
Authorities used digital sleuthing and a subpoena of Google, among other tactics, to track down and arrest Miranda. The case involved the work of the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which is made up of local, state, and federal law enforcement investigators.
According to court records, Miranda was booked into the Broward Main Jail and later released on an $82,500 bond.
The records did not indicate whether he had entered a plea.
