The boys earned a 48-30 win over Plantation while falling 99-40 to Pompano Beach and 104-34 to Coral Springs Charter. The girls also defeated Plantation 40-0, but dropped their other two matchups against Pompano Beach, 97-21, and Coral Springs Charter, 108-21.
Despite the losses, Monarch had several swimmers turn in strong individual performances. Andres Milano led the boys with a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, recording a time of 24.25. Arthur Meneghin also finished runner-up for the Knights, placing second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:29.88.
On the girls side, Taylor Navarette was one of Monarch’s top finishers, taking fourth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:13.43. The Knights also competed in several relay events. Arthur Meneghin, Andres Milano, Nathan Resta and Raphael Meneghin teamed up to finish fourth in the boys 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:07.75.
Monarch’s girls 200-yard freestyle relay team added a fourth-place finish in 2:29.18 as both the boys and girls concluded their first meet of the season with 1-2 records.
