Vonteria Georkisha Bradley {BSO}
A mother is facing felony child abuse charges after allegedly admitting to repeatedly hitting her daughter with belts and cords as punishment for sneaking her boyfriend into their home.
According to Coconut Creek Police Department investigation records, Vonteria Georkisha Bradley, 33, of Coconut Creek, was taken into custody on May 2 after police responded to a domestic disturbance at her home. There, officers were told that Bradley had beaten her daughter multiple times using both a brown and black leather belt and a black cord.
The report shows that the child was transported to Northwest Medical Center, where medical staff documented injuries that included welts on her hands, bruises on her arms and legs, and contusions behind her right ear and neck. She also complained of head and back pain, allegedly from being struck with an open fist.
During an interview with detectives, Bradley admitted to disciplining her daughter, stating she was upset after discovering the girl had allegedly snuck her boyfriend into the home while she was away.
According to the report, Bradley instructed her daughter to sit on a bed so she could be spanked. However, the child squirmed during the punishment, and Bradley acknowledged she may have struck other areas of the body. She told investigators she hit her daughter seven to eight times but denied using a cord.
Bradley was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. She was later released after posting a $1,000 bond.
