Marjory Stoneman Douglas baseball had ten seniors on their roster for their second State Championship.
All are officially committed to college baseball programs after Eduardo Fuentes signed to play at La Sierra University in Southern California.
“I would say that it is relieving to commit,” said Eduardo. “To know I’m playing college baseball definitely means a lot to me since I’m the second in my family to go play.”
Congrats to’22 @EddyFventes on signing a college scholarship with @LaSierraU_Baseb

Eduardo started playing baseball when he was four. He learned the game from his grandfather, Aurelio “Yeyo” Uraga, who always took him to the field and taught Eduardo about the game. While he did not play in 2021, Eduardo saw some of his closest friends win a State Championship and quickly decided that he wanted to pursue playing baseball during his senior year and beyond.
Eduardo did not allow an earned run for MSD this past season and was a part of their second straight State Championship. The Eagles also won the National High School Baseball Invitational featuring the top 16 teams in the country.

A big part of his success, he says, goes to his family. Fuentes established a terrific relationship with his brother Luis, who pushed Eduardo to become the player he is today. He is currently playing college baseball at Wingate University. Also, he feels like he would not be here today if not for Head Coach Todd Fitz-Gerald and his parents, Denise and Jose.
Eduardo is set to play his freshman season at La Sierra University in 2023. Not only does it have an excellent baseball team, but Eduardo also loves the area and has family close by. The Golden Eagles are coming off a season where they won 18 games, with 11 coming to the conference.
