
North Broward Prep Holds Signing Day. {NBP Athletics}
North Broward Prep recently held its annual signing day ceremony, with 12 student-athletes officially announcing their college commitments.
The school’s girls volleyball team, which captured the first State Championship in program history, featured four signees. Dasia Johnson committed to the University of Baltimore, Maryland, after leading the Eagles with 326 kills while also recording 40 blocks. Yasmin Dias Tonon signed with Bentley College after finishing second on the team with 320 kills and adding 60 service aces.
Destiny Wiggins will continue her career at Queens College after posting 436 digs in 85 sets this season, while Layni Tobis signed with Queens College as well after contributing 126 kills.
The Eagles finished an outstanding season with a 26-2 record and the program’s first state title.
The boys basketball team also celebrated three college commitments. Francesco Borio signed with Lynn University after leading the team with 15.0 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, helping North Broward Prep finish 24-4 and advance to the regional round while earning a top-20 state ranking.
Feliz Buroz committed to Westminster College after averaging 14.1 points per game, while Sam Cano signed with Ithaca College following a season in which he averaged 10.3 points per contest.
The baseball program produced three more signees. Jack Rostock originally committed to NC State University but has switched to the University of Alabama. The ace of the Eagles’ pitching staff spent two years on varsity, compiling a 16-4 record with a 2.23 ERA. He delivered one of his best performances in the regional opener and later threw a complete-game shutout in the State Semifinals.
Rodrigo Litherow signed with Covenant College after spending two seasons on varsity and scoring 25 runs. Adrian Rodriguez, a member of two State Championship Teams after debuting as a freshman, will also continue his baseball career at the collegiate level. Rodriguez finished his North Broward Prep career with a .253 batting average, 28 RBIs, five doubles, and one triple.
Rounding out the signing class, track and field standout Jayden Smith committed to Howard University. Smith won a District Championship in the high jump this season before placing fourth at Regionals and fifth at the State Championship
Football standout Peter McLaughlin signed with Allegheny College after recording 96 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one interception. He finished second on the team in tackles and helped the Eagles earn five victories during the fall season.
