Local nonprofit 3 Heart Strings is selling a pair of bracelets to raise money for victims and families impacted by the Surfside disaster, as well as for the family of Jordan Kronen, a 20-year-old Delray Beach man killed in a camping accident.
“Our community has been devastated by two recent tragedies that hit very close to home—the collapse of the of the Champlain Towers South condominium in the town of Surfside and the loss of a well-known local, vibrant young man, Jordan Kronen,” the 3 Heart Strings team said in a written statement Friday. “The girls at 3 Heart Strings’ mission is to help others and are determined to do so.”
The well-respected nonprofit is run by a group of young Parkland women: do-gooders Hanna Guttentag, Sofia Rothenberg, and Gabby Fisher, along with their newest team member, Lauren Ofstein. As of last year, 3 Heart Strings had donated over $275,000 to various charities, going back to their 2015 launch.
Their new bracelets cost $5 apiece.
All proceeds will go to the Surfside building collapse victims and to victims’ families, as well as to Kronen’s family, according to the nonprofit. Kronen was struck and killed by a falling tree while camping Saturday in Ginnie Springs, Fla., authorities said.
