Residents and supporters from across South Florida will gather later this month for an evening of pickleball, community, and advocacy as Safe Schools for Alex hosts its 3rd Annual Pickleball Fundraising Event in Coconut Creek.
The event will take place on Thursday, March 26, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Diadem Pickleball Complex, located at 1000 Coconut Creek Blvd.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will support the organization’s School Safety Dashboard, a nationwide platform that provides transparent data on safety incidents and disciplinary records in K-12 schools across all 50 states.
Safe Schools for Alex was founded by Max Schachter after his son, Alex, was killed in the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. The organization advocates for improved school safety policies and increased transparency to help protect students and educators.
The School Safety Dashboard compiles and organizes data related to school safety incidents, including bullying reports, threats, fights, drug violations, weapons on campus, transportation incidents, and mental health resources. The tool is designed to help parents, educators, policymakers, and law enforcement better understand safety trends and conditions in schools nationwide.
“Imagine having a clear, comprehensive safety report card for your child’s school—that’s the power of the School Safety Dashboard,” Schachter said. “Transparency isn’t just a right; it’s a lifeline.”
The pickleball fundraiser will bring together community leaders, advocates, and supporters for an evening focused on raising awareness and funding for safer schools.
Tickets are $100 per player. Visit safeschoolsforalex.org for ticket information.
