‘Trump needs to listen to the screams of the children,’ Parkland Students to Bill Maher

Cameron Kasky and David Hogg, survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting, appeared on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” and spoke out about the upcoming March for Our Lives rally planned for March 24 in Washington D.C.

The Parkland teens have founded the student advocacy group #NeverAgainMSD and also organized the March.

“We want Americans to stop being afraid of demanding our politicians to take action,” said Kasky. “They work for us, we don’t work for them. The March for Our Lives is us coming out and saying to our employees ‘you guys suck at your job.'”

Kasky encouraged everyone to come out to the March – and said that everyone is either a child or a former child. Insisting it isn’t about red or blue: it’s about protecting the kids.

Hogg talked about his disappointment with the Florida legislature who wouldn’t discuss weapons, but what they would discuss is porn as a public health emergency.

Maher, who doesn’t have children, and avoids them, complimented the Parkland teens. “I honestly thought kids were a lot stupider.” He said they had really given him faith that kids today are actually very bright.

Regarding the critics, Kasky said that until you’ve been on the receiving end of an AR-15, “We are the experts. We’ve seen our friends text their parents goodbye.”

Hogg said he hung up on a call from the White House before the CNN Town Hall which he expected the president to attend. He said he found it offensive they called the day before and never declined the invitation.

“We don’t need to listen to President Trump, President Trump needs to listen to the screams of the children and screams of this nation,” said Hogg.

Kasky ended it with this: “I mean this sincerely, I really do. To all the generations before us we sincerely accept your apology. We appreciate that you are willing to let us rebuild the world that you f—ed up.”

“Good luck trying,” said Maher.
