Last Sunday, Parkland resident Stephanie Schwab discovered the body of a dog wrapped in duct tape and plastic lying on the side of Hillsboro Blvd.
After contacting the Broward Sheriff’s Office, they determined the dog was dead and sent the body to the Coral Springs Animal Hospital for a necropsy.
The report has come back with the findings that the dog had been dead for four days and was too badly decomposed for a necropsy. A pit bull, the dog appeared to be well-taken care of, and was more than likely a pet. There was no evidence it was used as a fighting dog, and it appeared through the wounds on its neck and armpit that it had been hit with a car.
Schwab seemed relieved to hear the news that the dog didn’t appear to be abused, however, she found it odd that the dog was bound in duct tape and plastic.
“No one takes care of a dog and then dumps them. Something doesn’t seem right,” she said.
Schwab, who rode her bicycle down that same path the day before, said the dog was not there for four days.
“Maybe it it was dead for four days but it wasn’t in that spot for four days.”
