The Everglades Service Unit of Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida is forming new troops throughout Coral Springs, Parkland and Coconut Creek and are inviting girls to get more involved by attending one of their registration events.
Girls Scouts offers girls in K-12 grade a place where she can be inspired, try new things, take on challenges, build community, and inspire others.
Through Girl Scouts, Penelope Jacobson, a student of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, was able to participate in a Great Panda Adventure in China. At the Ya’an Conservation Center, she helped caretakers with their daily routines, which included learning about the pandas’ diet, preparing their food, feeding them, cleaning their living quarters, and working on maintenance projects.
Jacobson also helped out with panda research and spent time in Beijing visiting historical landmarks.
“My trip to China helped me be more independent and confident in my abilities,” said Jacobson. “Without Girl Scouts, I would never have had such an amazing opportunity.”
Girl Scouts gives girls like her the opportunity to explore new opportunities, provide service to the community, and develop leadership skills while having fun, forming friendships and making memories that will last a lifetime.
Girl Scouts is not just for girls. They are also actively searching for adult volunteers to join in on the fun, memories, and experiences too.
