Following their last regular school board meeting this year, the Broward County School Board released calendar dates for 2021-2022 on Wednesday.
The first day of the 2021 school year begins Wednesday, August 18, with teacher planning scheduled to start one week before August 11.
Having set a precedent this year, closing the entire week of Thanksgiving, students will once again have five days off during the 2021 Thanksgiving Break, November 22 – November 26.
Winter break for 2021 is Monday, December 20 through Friday, December 31. Schools reopen on January 3.
On Monday, February 14, an early release day is scheduled, keeping with the new precedent of making this day “A Day of Service and Love” in memory of those who lost their lives in the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.
The last day of school for Broward County students in 2022 is Thursday, June 9.
The approved 2021-2022 calendar also includes ten teacher planning days, six early release days, and days designated for interim report cards, report cards, holidays, and contingencies for up to six hurricane makeup days, if necessary.
The 2021-2022 school calendar synopsis can be viewed online.
