Coconut Creek Commission Names Sheila Rose as Next City Manager

Sheila Rose is named next City Manager of Coconut Creek.

Coconut Creek City Manager Sheila Rose will continue leading the city for at least another three years.

At the September 24 meeting, the commission passed a resolution approving a three-year contract beginning April 6, 2027, and ending April 5, 2030.

Rose has been with the city for about 27 years and became city manager in 2024.

Rose said she enjoys serving as city manager and is proud of the work the staff has accomplished. She told the commission she wants to see the MainStreet project to its completion and is pleased that businesses are committing to be a part of it.

She is proud that the city grant funding team has won grants for municipal improvements. She is also proud of the cybersecurity team and does not fear the computer system being hacked.

“I am committed to the city and want to stay on for another three years,” said Rose.

Commissioner Jackie Railey said she is especially pleased with Rose’s leadership and considers her a wealth of knowledge who can answer any question about Coconut Creek.

“You have created an environment where the employees are happy. You treat residents with respect, and you are worth your weight in gold,” said Railey.

Vice Mayor John Brodie said that while city managers often must make difficult decisions, Rose has been successful in creating a positive workplace environment for staff.

Commissioner Joshua Rydell said being a city manager is a 24/7 job and that Rose has done a great job in leading the city and controlling development. He is especially pleased with her work on the MainStreet project and said it will benefit the city.

“Our city manager and legal team in this current day and age are unparalleled,” said Rydell.

Commissioner Sandra Welch said she was impressed with Rose and her ability to create a positive vision for the city. She was especially impressed with how she led an effort to recreate Coconut Creek Parkway as the “education corridor” through improved pedestrian lighting and sidewalks.
