Incidents
Aggravated Battery (Domestic Battery by Strangulation)
Police investigated an aggravated battery involving a restricted victim between 12:20 and 12:24 a.m. Dec. 30. The incident was reported in Coconut Creek.
Domestic Disturbances
Officers responded to multiple domestic verbal disturbance calls, including incidents in the Center Point, Regency Lakes, Pond Apple, and Wynmoor communities throughout the reporting period.
Fraud
A 59-year-old woman reported an attempted fraud on Dec. 30 at a residence on Carambola Circle South.
Vehicle Theft
A U-Haul vehicle was reported stolen from a location on North University Drive. The theft occurred in October but was reported to Coconut Creek police on Dec. 30.
Retail Thefts / Shoplifting
Multiple retail thefts were reported at Burlington, Walmart, and Publix locations throughout Coconut Creek. Reported losses ranged from $5 to more than $1,000.
Baker Act / Mental Health Incidents
Police initiated Baker Act procedures in several cases involving adults experiencing mental health crises.
Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
Officers investigated multiple DUI incidents, including traffic stops and crashes on State Road 7, Lyons Road, West Atlantic Boulevard, and Carambola Circle North.
Disorderly Intoxication
Several disorderly intoxication incidents were reported, including disturbances at Country Lakes Mobile Home Park and the Promenade.
Fire Incidents
Fire crews responded to dumpster fires and a small brush fire at Oak Trails Park believed to be caused by fireworks.
Criminal Mischief
Reports included damage to a residence involving gunfire into a sliding glass door and vandalism to a home window.
Bicycle Thefts
Two bicycles were reported stolen, including an $800 Cannondale bicycle from Wynmoor and another delayed theft reported later in the week.
Homicide Investigation
Detectives investigated a fatal incident at a residence on Acadian Trail involving domestic violence circumstances. SWAT also responded to the scene.
Arrests
Linh Huy Nguyen, 35, was arrested on a charge of domestic battery by strangulation.
Asher Paillant, 25, was arrested for petit theft (second offense) following a shoplifting incident.
Elijah Holmes, 53, was arrested on a municipal ordinance violation.
Eduardo Antonio Ramirez, 28, was arrested for petit theft.
Moacir Q. Dossantos, 21, was arrested for DUI – first offense following a crash.
Jose Omar Morellon, 43, was arrested for disorderly conduct/breach of the peace.
Craig Howard Seid, 76, was arrested on a felony battery charge involving a victim 65 or older.
Enith Mariah Guerrero, 26, was arrested for DUI – first offense.
Adrian O. Bent, 54, was arrested for simple battery.
Jeremi Devaun James, 34, was arrested for DUI – first offense.
Michael Lee Johnson, 55, was arrested for felony retail theft at Walmart.
Joseph Anthony Rodriguez, 30, was arrested for DUI – first offense following a vehicle crash.
Jucinei Rosa DaSilva, 47, was arrested for domestic battery.
Joaquin Eduardo Lassus, 46, was arrested for resisting an officer with violence.
Ron Hoang Truong, 28, was arrested for disorderly intoxication in a public place.
