The Coconut Creek-based Chiera Family Foundation will host its 32nd annual fundraiser, “N.I.C.K.’s Night at the Derby,” on Saturday, May 4, followed by the N.I.C.K.’s Golf Classic on Sunday, May 5, to support children and young adults fighting cancer.
Held at Broken Sound Country Club in Boca Raton, the dinner and auction kicks off at 4:30 p.m. and includes cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a sit-down dinner, and a live auction to raise funds for summer camp programs and college scholarships. Guests are encouraged to dress in “Derby Best” attire.
This year’s honoree is Lauren Bendesky, a former N.I.C.K.’s Camp participant and cancer survivor who is now a radiation oncology resident at the University of California, San Francisco. Her journey reflects the foundation’s mission to help kids not only survive but thrive.
The Golf Classic takes place the following day at The Old Course at Broken Sound, site of the James Hardie/Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational.
Proceeds benefit four core programs: N.I.C.K.’s Camp at Camp Boggy Creek in Eustis, N.I.C.K.’s Scholarships, N.I.C.K.’s Golf, and N.I.C.K.’s Ice Skating. To date, the foundation has raised $5.4 million and sent over 150 children to camp annually, funded college scholarships, and introduced cancer patients to golf and ice skating.
Sponsors include Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, the Rotary Club of Coral Springs, The Florida Panthers, Blue Stream Fiber, and many others.
Tickets for the Derby event are $300, with table sponsorships beginning at $3,000. Registration and sponsorship opportunities are available at nickstickets.asimobile.net.
