Coconut Creek Police Honor Students for "Doing The Right Thing"

The Coconut Creek Do the Right Thing program honored outstanding students and a teacher before the January 25 commission meeting.

Sydney and Jack Giniewicz, first graders at Coconut Creek Elementary School, were honored for helping to clean up the school’s campus and being good citizens overall.

London Phillippe-Pennachio, a fifth grader at Winston Park Elementary School, won for telling an adult that another student was stealing items during a field trip. Shannon Pennachio said she was very proud of her daughter for telling an adult about the theft.

Liv Vora Quiroga, a fourth grader at Tradewinds Elementary School, helped another student translate Spanish to English. The student is working to learn English. Quiroga has helped other students with translation.

Tatiana Charles, a student at Monarch High School, was honored for helping with peer counseling and helping students who don’t speak English.

Mischa Ricketts, an exceptional education specialist at Lyons Creek Middle School, is the teacher of the month. She was selected for her hard work and dedication to the school and its students.

According to Scotty Leamon, public safety information officer for the Coconut Creek Police Department, Do the Right Thing recognizes students for doing the right thing. The award distinguishes students who make good choices, do well in school, give back to their community, or improve their behavior.
