The owners of the Lincoln of Coconut Creek Auto Dealership will be permitted to have an illuminated sign at their dealership, which is currently under construction.
During the September 25 meeting, the commission approved a resolution to allow a ten-square-foot sign, where an eight-square-foot maximum was permitted, and an illuminated service entrance sign, where internal illumination is not allowed, for the service entrance at the dealership located at 5501 West Sample Road. A representative from the owners said an illuminated sign was necessary to help people find the dealership.
The commission also approved a resolution by the dealership to allow a sign deviation, increasing the height of a logo sign from 3 feet to 5.1 feet.
Commissioner Joshua Rydell said the sign changes should be improved and that businesses should not face numerous challenges from the city to have such requests approved.
Commissioner Sandra Welch said changes to the site plan approval process should be made to streamline similar requests.
