An overserved woman’s late-night disturbance at the Promenade at Coconut Creek escalated into a public spectacle and her arrest.
According to a Coconut Creek arrest report, on March 25, officers were dispatched to the Promenade following reports of a disturbance.
Records show the incident began after the woman, later identified as Karen Holbrook, 39, of Delray Beach, left World of Beer and entered Bar Louie, where the chaos ensued.
Upon entering Bar Louie, Holbrook ordered a shot of alcohol along with takeout food. However, she began causing a disturbance while waiting, according to the bar’s bartender.
Witnesses told officers that the situation quickly spiraled out of control as Holbrook exited Bar Louie and began yelling at a patron outside before smacking them.
Eyewitnesses also reported that Holbrook continued her erratic behavior, shouting obscenities, which drew a large amount of attention from everyone in the surrounding areas.
Responding to the disturbance, officers from the Coconut Creek Police Department arrived at the scene to find Holbrook sitting in the middle of the road, shouting and refusing to cooperate.
Records show that despite repeated requests, she refused to provide her identification and would not leave the roadway.
Ultimately, Holbrook was placed under arrest and charged with resisting an officer without violence and disorderly intoxication in a public place, causing a disturbance.
Holbrook was transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
