Grant McDonald: Latest Marjory Stoneman Douglas Baseball Player to Commit

Grant McDonald commits to continue his baseball career at Radford University. {Jillian Jarboe}

Fresh from North Broward Preparatory School, Grant McDonald played a key role in helping the Marjory Stoneman Douglas baseball team win a State Championship this year.

Despite still having one more year left of high school, McDonald has committed to Radford University after his senior year.

“It has been a long process the last two years with COVID-19, and a lot of hard work has taken place to get here,” he said. “I am really excited that I’ll get to continue to play baseball for four more years.”

McDonald hit a home run, had five doubles, and drove in 13 RBI’s while playing terrific in the outfield. He also stole seven bases with his new team despite only seven hits in 33 at-bats as a sophomore at North Broward Prep.

He says his decision to attend Radford started some time ago. For many years, the school showed interest, and he developed a “terrific” relationship with Coach Karl Kuhn.

Radford went 23-23 this past season and won as many as 30 games in 2019. Before McDonald heads north, he will play one more season with the Eagles, who return a talented group from their championship team in 2021.
