Coconut Creek invites young minds to sharpen their strategy skills and learn the timeless game of chess through its upcoming Instructional Chess Club, designed specifically for elementary-aged children.
Open to players of all experience levels, the program offers a fun and educational environment where staff members will be on hand to guide beginners through the rules and basic strategies of the game.
The program is open to children ages 6 to 11 and will take place on Wednesdays from April 16 through May 21, running weekly from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sessions will be held at the Recreation Complex, located at 4455 Sol Press Boulevard.
The cost to participate is $20 for Coconut Creek residents and $30 for non-residents, with payment accepted by credit card only.
Registration is now open and will continue until all available spots are filled. Space is limited to just eight participants, so early registration is recommended. Interested families can sign up online at CoconutCreek.net/WebTrac, or in person at the Recreation Complex or Community Center at 1100 Lyons Road.
A WebTrac account is required to register online, and staff at the Recreation Complex can assist with setting one up by calling 954-956-1580.
