A Coconut Creek man allegedly broke through a locked bathroom door and beat his girlfriend in the shower during an argument over a vape, police said.
According to Coconut Creek Police Department arrest records, Lucas Austin Fredez, 30, was arrested September 13 and charged with domestic battery following an alleged attack that occurred at a residence in the 4100 block of Carambola Circle South.
According to the arrest affidavit, Fredez and the victim had argued earlier that day while they were out with friends. The victim told police she entered the shower and locked the door. Fredez allegedly followed her, argued about a vape, and attempted to force his way inside.
Police said he broke through the door, pushed the woman to the floor, and slapped her multiple times in the face.
Fredez allegedly left the bathroom but returned after hearing the woman call friends for help. According to the affidavit, he again pushed her to the floor, straddled her, and repeatedly punched her in the face and torso.
Police said Fredez also grabbed the woman’s face and head-butted her before leaving the residence in a vehicle.
Records show he returned before officers arrived and was detained during their investigation.
The responding officer reported seeing a hematoma on the woman’s forehead, a bruise on her breast, and scratches on her back.
The report indicates the bedroom and bathroom were in disarray, indicating a struggle had taken place, and police said the bathroom door appeared broken.
Fredez was taken into custody and booked into the Broward County Main Jail.
