Young artists in Coconut Creek are set to sharpen their skills in the traditional art of pencil drawing thanks to a new program offered by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.
Aimed at children aged 6 to 12, the course will cover various techniques to create landscapes, still life, and abstract art using different art pencils.
The four-week program, running from February 26 through March 18, promises not only to nurture the artistic talents of its participants but also to provide them with a tangible reminder of their creative journey. Each piece created by the young artists will be matted and framed, ready to be displayed with pride.
Classes are scheduled for Mondays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Recreation Complex at 4455 Sol Press Boulevard. The course fee is $40 for Coconut Creek residents and $50 for non-residents, with only payment accepted via credit card.
The city has made registration easy and accessible, with options to register online through the Coconut Creek WebTrac system or by walk-in at either the Recreation Complex or the Community Center at 1100 Lyons Road. However, those interested should act quickly as space is limited to just 12 participants, ensuring a more personalized and effective learning environment.
To register online, participants must have an active WebTrac account. For those needing assistance to set up an account, the Recreation Complex staff is available at 954-956-1580.
