The track and field season is officially complete, following the three Coconut Creek teams that are competing at the Regional and State Championships.
North Broward Prep was led by its girls team after winning their first District Title in school history at Regionals. Alexa Schwartz and Ella Munoz won Regional championships in the long jump and javelin, respectively. Munoz came in third in the triple jump and helped their 4 x 100 relay of Madelyn Kunz, Alana Amsterdam, and Ivory Edgecomb finish fourth. Schwartz competed in the shot put and Discus, while Ysamar Pimentel was the runner-up in the high jump and came in fifth in the triple jump.
Kaiden O’Neill impressed with a third-place finish in the 400 hurdles. Munoz, Sanguino, and Saleyah Turner all earned points, with Amsterdam, Lucia Casacci, Chelsea Turner, Wiggins, and Turner all competing. NBP ran in the 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relay while Madelyn Kunz, Mariana Lander, Alicia Makovsky, Madison Pavon, Lucia Casacci, and Briley Rebello competed to finish third overall.
At state, Schwartz won the State Championship in the javelin, Munoz finished 13th in the long jump and 17th in the triple jump, and Pimentel, Edgecomb, and O’Neil all finished in 12th. They also had their.
The boys top results came from Jayden Smith, who finished fourth in the high jump and fifth in the long jump. Anthony Mestre, Felix Ostamendy, Braxton Bylow, and Christopher Baker finished fourth in the 4 x 100 relay, while Christopher Baker came in seventh in the 100 meters. Danylo Babinchuk also shined with two top finishes in the 110 and 400 hurdles. Elijah Gonzalez,, Nico Quintero, Matthew Fullerton, Grant Depenbrock, Ryan Baxley, Mac Lobdell, Sammy Kovari, Zach Amelchenk as well as the 4 x 800 relay of Eric Levy, Daniel Robles, Lucas Wiley and Dakota Miller all competed. Smith then finished fourth in the high jump at the State Championship. Kontos came in 15th in the javelin, while the 4 x 100 relay came in 16th.
Monarch High School, led by Josh Doerfler, finished fifth in the discus and 10th in the javelin. Joshua Reneau came in seventh in the 400 meters while Dominic Savio, Daniel Robinson, Anthony Potenzano, Patrick Pierre, Mark Harris, Timothy Robinson, Christopher Belizaire, and Daniel Robinson all competed for the boys. Courtney Johnson was the lone top-ten finish from the girls, placing ninth ninth in the discus. Katrice Burke and Sasha Rodriguez also impressed to complete their season.
Godson Sinelien led the Coconut Creek boys team and finished third in the javelin. Jermaine Gordan, G Sinelien, Zanii Miller, Tyler Joseph, Nathaniel Black, Dorian Petilien, Alexander Guillaume, and Jeremiah Accius raced, while the girls’ 4 x 400 relay team featured Aasia Gilbert, Stephaine Bien-Amie, Ruth-ann Powell, and Destiny Wells.
