It was a stressful journey at times for Parkland resident and Monarch baseball star Nick Nin, but he is officially on his way to playing college baseball at Wartburg College in Iowa.

“I feel more at ease and ready to take the next step,” Nick said. “I feel accomplished and super excited to start the next chapter of my life in college. I am extremely proud to become a Wartburg baseball Knight.”

Along with his mother, Diane, a graduate of Wartburg College, Nick went on a visit late last year. As soon as he stepped onto the campus, he fell in love with it after seeing the baseball facilities, campus and professors.

Nick was seven when he first started playing baseball and has played for the Coconut Creek Hawks, Parkland Pokers, Westglades Middle School, Hof-Fitz, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, and Primal 9.

After growing up in Coconut Creek, he attended Tradewinds Elementary and Lyons Creek for middle school before moving to Carriage Homes at Terramar in Parkland. He attended MSD for three years and played on the junior varsity baseball team, then transferred over to Monarch. In his first season on the varsity baseball team, he has struck out 12 hitters in only 7.8 innings.

Nick has worked with former pitcher Juan Rincoln and has established an extremely tight relationship with his varsity Coach Michael Ramaglia.

After graduating in May, he’ll join a program that is currently 11-8 in 2022 and has won as many as 30 games three times since 2015.
