Coconut Creek High School {Aiden Palmer}
Coconut Creek High School and Creek Technical Academy have earned national recognition after being named a 2026 Magnet School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America.
The prestigious honor marks the first time the school has placed among the top magnet programs in the country. The recognition was announced by Broward County Public Schools as part of a districtwide achievement that saw BCPS earn 37 National Merit Awards this year, including Magnet Schools of Excellence and Magnet Schools of Distinction honors across elementary, middle, high, and technical schools.
“We congratulate our magnet schools and programs for reaching this level of success,” BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn said in a statement. “These awards reflect the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, administrators, and community partners – and highlight our District’s continued focus on offering dynamic and enriching educational options for families.”
Coconut Creek High School was recognized for its Technical Academies magnet program, which emphasizes career-ready skills, hands-on learning, and real-world applications while maintaining strong academic standards.
School officials credited the achievement to the collective efforts of students, faculty, and staff, as well as the leadership of Magnet Coordinator Dr. Marlene D. Bodine-Landis, calling the award a reflection of the school’s belief in excellence and continuous growth.
Magnet Schools of America honors schools nationwide each year for outstanding academic performance, innovative curriculum, leadership, and community engagement.
In addition to Coconut Creek High School, other Broward schools receiving Magnet School of Distinction recognition include Margate Middle School for STEM, Miramar High School for its Aviation and International Baccalaureate programs, Northeast High School for programs including Biotechnology and Alternative Energy, Pompano Beach High School for International Affairs with Information Technology, and William T. McFatter Technical College and Technical High School for its Technical Academies.
The honored schools will be formally recognized during a Magnet Schools of America awards ceremony scheduled for April.
