Authorities on Tuesday arrested a juvenile in the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old boy on the Winston Park Nature Trail in April 2024, police said.
Iury Daniel De Sena, a student at Lyons Creek Middle School in Coconut Creek, was stabbed repeatedly by a killer who fled the scene on foot and eluded a sprawling manhunt by police on April 20, 2024. De Sena later died from his injuries.
The juvenile was charged with felony murder. Neither their name nor any other details about them were immediately made public by police Thursday.
Coconut Creek Police on Thursday said De Sena had arranged on social media to sell drugs to the juvenile at the nature trail.
When De Sena arrived to make the drug deal, the juvenile attempted to rob him and an “altercation” took place, police said in a written announcement.
The juvenile, armed with a knife, allegedly stabbed De Sena multiple times before fleeing, police said.
Detectives later identified the accused juvenile killer, who was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service and Coconut Creek Police on Tuesday, authorities said.
Additional information about the arrest was not immediately available on Thursday.
