Creating custom footwear designs is not an easy “feat.”
Just ask Parkland teen Lara Shostack, who specializes in applying her doodle designs to sneakers.
“I love drawing and coming up with new ideas. It’s like a blank canvas and a way to express myself,” she shared.
Each pair is customizable to each client, and Lara sits with parents or their children to listen to their requests and then turn their visions into reality.
“I also love seeing people’s faces when they see the finished products.”
Shostack launched Lara’s Creations approximately two years ago. The Marjory Stoneman Douglas senior graduates next month and heads off to Florida Gulf Coast University to study psychology this fall.
“I saw these amazing shoes online and wanted a pair so badly. My mom convinced me to try and make myself a similar pair. I have always loved drawing and art, and knew I could do it, but not how good they would turn out,” she recalled.
Her mother was so impressed that she posted them on her Facebook page. After people commented about how amazing they were, she got the idea to start a business.
Beyond the footwear, Shostack recently expanded her creations to include custom denim jackets, which she is painting for her friends for college.
“I love helping others when they are in need and giving advice to all those who need it,” Shostack exclaimed. “I am hoping to pursue my degree in social work and continue helping those that need me.”
To place an order with Lara’s Creations, reach out to Shostack on Instagram. Footwear prices range between $100 and $120, and she offers delivery services in the local area.
