Somerset Parkland Academy entertained nearly 200 families in their first winter caravan on Friday.
Project Coordinator Jennifer Knight, mom to Lucus, 8 and London, 5, had an idea to bring on-campus students with virtual students at a fun holiday event, giving them a sense of normalcy during these not-so-normal times.
By raising money through sponsorships and in-kind donations, Knight held the event with the help of staff and parent volunteers.
Complete with themed stations like Polar Express, Hanukkah, Frozen, The Grinch, Candyland, and Santa’s Workshop, the caravan’s final stop included photos with the man himself — Santa Claus.
Children could meet other characters and play Covid-safe carnival games from the comfort of their car, earning prizes and candy.

From a man on stilts to students throwing pies at their teachers, the children’s faces lit up with excitement as they made their way through the caravan.
