Angelica Carrilo {BSO}
A Coconut Creek woman was arrested for domestic assault after allegedly beating her husband with a vacuum cleaner.
On May 15, the Coconut Creek Police Department responded to a domestic incident that resulted in the arrest of Angelica Carrillo, 48, of Coconut Creek, on charges of domestic battery.
According to records, the incident was reported by a family member who claimed Carrillo was allegedly beating her spouse with a vacuum.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed Carrillo outside, accompanied by a family member who served as an interpreter.
The report indicates that initial observations by officers noted that Carrillo’s finger appeared bruised. Through the interpreter, it was discovered that a verbal altercation over travel plans to Brazil had escalated into a physical confrontation.
Carrillo claimed that during the argument, her spouse had pushed her to the floor, prompting her to defend herself by striking him with a vacuum. However, her spouse provided a different account, stating that he had been cooking dinner when Carrillo began arguing.
According to his statement, Carrillo began becoming aggressive when he did not respond to her comments. He admitted to using his forearm to guide her out of the kitchen, at which point Carrillo allegedly staged a fall and began screaming.
Their son corroborated this version of events, adding that after the staged fall, Carrillo grabbed a vacuum and struck her spouse, who sustained scratches and bruises while defending himself.
Officers took evidentiary photos of the injuries, the interior of the residence, and the vacuum. Given the circumstances and the consistency of the accounts, it was determined that Angelica was the primary aggressor.
She was placed under arrest for domestic battery and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
