Police caught an accused burglar in Coconut Creek Monday after the man asked a police officer for help while fleeing from one of his victims, authorities said.
According to Coconut Creek Police, Terry Jennings, 24, of Pompano Beach, came running up to the officer as he sat in his car at a stop light on Coconut Creek Parkway.
The officer quickly determined Jennings was running away from a resident after the resident found him trying to break into his home in South Creek, police said.
Police said they searched Jennings and found several items in his pockets that had been stolen from an unlocked car.
Another resident came forward and said she had spotted Jennings on one of her surveillance cameras trying to get into her locked car, police said.
Officers said they charged Jennings with car burglary and an attempted car burglary. He was being held on a court order without bond at the Broward County Jail Wednesday.
