North Broward Preparatory School will soon have a new addition.
At the August 27 meeting, the Coconut Creek commission passed a resolution approving the site plan for a 56,500-square-foot addition to the school campus for a new instructional and performance space. North Broward Preparatory School is located at 7600 Lyons Road.
The project includes three new buildings: one for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) with labs; a performing arts building for dance, chorus, band, and other arts; and a building for pre-K and kindergarten with classrooms and a kitchen. The plans include drop-off lanes and outdoor play areas.
According to city information, landscaped areas and fencing along NW 74th Street will be maintained at a distance from nearby residential areas.
Vice Mayor John Brodie said he is pleased that North Broward Prep is a growing school and that the expansion will benefit the city.
North Broward Prep is a private day and boarding school. According to the school’s website, it offers college-preparatory classes, honors, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses, along with a full range of athletic and arts programs.
