Burlington celebrated its new location in Coconut Creek with a ribbon-cutting and social event on the morning of November 1.
City officials and Burlington executives attended the opening. Burlington donated $5,000 to Coconut Creek K-8 Academy of Excellence, and teachers and students from the school participated in the celebration.
Store manager Crystal Smith was proud of the effort associates put into preparing the store for opening. “We put this together in seven days, and we hired many people from Coconut Creek. We have 85 associates who have a good opportunity with Burlington,” said Smith.
District Manager David Cohen was pleased with the enthusiasm he saw at the opening and the large crowd of customers waiting by the door. “This is an amazing store, and this is the biggest crowd I have seen for an opening day. Our associates are doing a great job,” said Cohen.
Burlington is considered an off-price store where customers can find items priced as low as 65 percent off. The store focuses on clothing, shoes, accessories, and home products, according to Cohen.
Principal Jocelyn Reid of the Academy of Excellence was pleased to accept the $5,000 donation. “We appreciate the support Burlington is offering our school, and it will benefit our students,” she said.
Jasmine Walker, a literacy coach, said the money will be used to purchase educational materials to help students.
Mayor Jackie Railey said she was glad a new store was opening in Coconut Creek. “Burlington is an excellent company and is good for the city. The store is providing job opportunities for our residents,” she said.
Commissioner Sandra Welch said she was glad a new business opened in the city and was supporting a local school.
Burlington is located at 4847 Coconut Creek Parkway. Business hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
