After Hurricane Irma, Parkland residents seemed to have weathered the storm safely. Many had personal property damage, but nothing compared to what those in Monroe County suffered.
The biggest task at hand is the cleanup, and residents in private communities are wondering when the mounds of debris will be picked up in front of their homes. The City of Parkland will be holding a special meeting to discuss this issue on Wednesday, September 20 at 2:00 p.m. to decide whether to move forward with an expenditure for debris removal. This could go beyond what is currently in the contract with Waste Management for regular bulk trash pickup and will be discussed at the meeting. The public is welcome to attend and speak.
Because the city didn’t have enough time to notice the residents, no vote will be taken on Wednesday. Instead, it will be taken on Friday, September 22, at 5:05 p.m.
