
Monarch High School Football faces Coconut Creek In Kickoff Classic.{Shots By Aden}
High School football in Coconut Creek was in action this week in their annual spring game, while several other players are set at college.
Monarch High School beat Plantation High School 28-0 and won 24-6 against Dillard High School behind a terrific game from Bryan Bynes. He had eight catches for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Jordan Pyform had two interceptions returned for touchdowns and also had three tackles. Anthony Williams, Jamboree Riggins, and Jabari Brady all scored touchdowns as well.
The Knights are coming off a season in which they won a District Championship after finishing 7-4 and advancing to the second round of the postseason. They are set to begin the 2025 season in August with a game against Bolles High School in the Broward County National Football Showcase.
They are also scheduled to play home games against Fort Lauderdale, Coral Springs High School, St Thomas, and Blanche Ely while playing on the road at Deerfield Beach, Don Bosco, Seminole, Chaminade, and Piper High School.
The Knights also had a commitment from Shanard Lo’Ray. A 2021 graduate from Monarch High School was one of the leading tacklers before going to play in college. His journey began at Valdosta State College, where he attended before transferring to Highland Community College and finishing last year with 17 tackles on the defensive line. He will play at Mercyhurst and compete for a team that won four games last season.
Coconut Creek High School played in their spring game and went 4-6 last season. They still managed to make the playoffs and played a collective game against Blanche Ely High School, but lost 34-17. They are currently scheduled to play Boyd H Anderson High School in the Eddie Jackson Classic on August 26, while also having a game the following week against South Broward High School.
North Broward Prep won 2-6 over Foundation Academy after going 4-6 a season ago. Their wins came against Somerset Academy Key, St. John Paul II Catholic, Coral Springs Charter, and Pine Crest School. They begin their season against Marathon High School on August 19. Their home opener will be a week later against Westminster Academy, as well as home games against Somerset Academy Key at St. John Paul II Catholic.
Eagles quarterback Hunter Gillman will play at Baldwin Wallace University in Ohio after throwing for 1,046 yards and 13 touchdown passes. He also ran for 460 yards and scored two more times. Jack Benyaou will play at the University of Rochester, and Alex Pavon is signed with Ithaca College after protecting and blocking for Gillman.
