A Coconut Creek driver was involved in a car crash that left a man dead in Pompano Beach, authorities said Thursday.
Shortly after 10:51 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit detectives responded to a crash involving a 2020 Dodge Charger and a pedestrian near the 2700 block of North Course Drive in Pompano Beach.
A preliminary investigation revealed the driver, Brandon Ken’Yatta Baez, 25, of Coconut Creek, was driving the Charger south on Northwest 27th Avenue when he made a left turn onto North Course Drive and struck the pedestrian, Raffaele Franco Greco, 79, of Pompano Beach, who was in the roadway, according to detectives.
Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded and rushed Greco to Broward Health North Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead.
According to BSO, Baez remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, authorities said.
