The Coconut Creek High School football team continued their challenging schedule to start the season with a matchup against Baylor High School.
Baylor came in as the top-ranked team in Tennessee and 49th nationally and handed the Cougars their second straight loss. The Cougars managed to score three touchdowns after being shutout in their first game but fell 49-21
Next, the Cougars play Deerfield Beach High School on Friday, September 13, at 7 p.m. The Bucks are 1-2 this year, with their lone win against Marjory Stoneman Douglas. The Cougars also won 56-8 in their only matchup last year.
In cross country, the Cougars raced at Quiet Water Parks on Tuesday and were led by Jeremiah Accius. He came in 28th with a time of 21.04.3, followed by Tyler Joseph in 40th place. Benjamin Duverna, Woldy Mathurin, and Josh Jacques all finished in the top 80, as the team finished in ninth place. The girls did not run as a team but had Layla Naves and Aisha Acluche complete their race.
The girls volleyball team is 0-2 this year following losses against Pompano Beach and Deerfield Beach High School. Next, they will play Pembroke Pines Charter on Monday, September 9, at 4:30 p.m.
