Golf season is underway in Coconut Creek, but the toughest opponent so far has been the weather, with both North Broward Prep and Monarch High School having several matches canceled.
The North Broward Prep boys team was able to get on the course at Boca Raton Golf & Racquet Club, with seventh grader Eli Widom leading the Eagles with a 37 to finish first. Alexander Lavan placed second with a 39, while Cooper Masan and Jake Masan each shot a 41. Elliot Fisherman added a 42 as NBP competed against Boca Raton Community High School.
The NBP girls team also competed in the Maverick Invitational. Although the Eagles were unable to finish their round, Jesere Mendez led the team through 11 holes at just four shots over par. Ava Koury had the second-lowest score for NBP, followed by Valentina Artisty, Jordan Ellis and McKenzie Hanna.
Monarch High School was also able to get a match in at the Country Club of Coral Springs, with Ethan Weiss leading the Knights. Weiss shot a 41 and finished second overall while competing against Coral Glades and J.P. Taravella.
Nathan Żolnowski was second on the team with a 44 and finished fourth overall. Bradley Dodge, Emilio Navarro and Jacob Weiner also competed for Monarch as the Knights continued their season despite multiple matches being wiped out by weather.
