The City of Coconut Creek’s Parks and Recreation Department is tipping off plans for its 2025 Co-Ed Instructional Basketball League, giving boys and girls ages 6 and 7 a chance to stay active, build skills, and enjoy the game in a low-pressure setting.
The season begins with three consecutive Saturday clinics: July 19, July 26, and Aug. 2, held from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Recreation Complex, 4455 Sol Press Boulevard.
Ten coach-refereed games will be held each Saturday from August 9 through October 18, also running from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m. (There are no games on Aug. 30.) Each game features a 40-minute same-day practice and a 20-minute contest played in four- to five-minute quarters; no scores are kept to emphasize learning over winning.
Every participant receives a jersey, shorts, and a basketball. League fees are $120 for Coconut Creek residents and $170 for non-residents, payable by credit card only. To qualify for the resident rate, guardians must show a state-issued driver’s license or valid passport along with recent proof of Coconut Creek residency—such as a voter registration card, water bill, cable bill or electric bill dated within two months of submission.
Registration opens April 14 and runs through June 30, or until the league reaches capacity. Families can secure a spot online via WebTrac or in person at the Recreation Complex or the Community Center, located at 1100 Lyons Road.
New users must establish a WebTrac account before registering; staff assistance is available by calling 954-956-1580. To verify age and guardianship, officials may request a copy of the child’s birth certificate during walk-in registration.
League organizers are also recruiting volunteer coaches. Prospective coaches must complete an application, submit to a background check and fingerprinting, and can learn more by contacting the Recreation Complex at 954-956-1580 or emailing CreekSportsGirlsBBall@coconutcreek.net.
