Drawing on the excitement surrounding Kamala Harris being named the Democratic Presidential nominee, the Coconut Creek-Margate Democratic Club held a social event to engage volunteers and supporters ahead of the 2024 election.
The event took place on August 13 at Jasmine Thai and Sushi in Margate. It attracted over 70 attendees and signed up 18 new members.
Margate Vice Mayor Arlene Schwartz expressed her enthusiasm about the turnout.
“It was great to see so many people come out that want to be involved in their community and understand how important it is to vote and be educated on the issues coming up on the ballot.”
She added that there were plenty of new faces, which showed how seriously everyone is taking this election. “We can’t afford for anyone to sit out.”
Participants took home nearly 300 postcards to help spread the word about the upcoming election. Greg Welch, Field Organizer for Kamala Harris for President, was also on hand to assist attendees in signing up to volunteer for the campaign.
Speakers also included Nancy Fry, club vice president, and Anthony Caggiano, Margate commissioner.
