Work is progressing on MainStreet at Coconut Creek.
During the January 9 meeting, the commission unanimously agreed to approve a site plan request by David Auld of Johns Family Partners to build roadways, infrastructure, on-street parking, and other hardscape and street elements.
According to Justin Proffitt, director of sustainable development for Coconut Creek, more than three miles of roadways and intersections will be added. New pedestrian walkways, electric vehicle charging stations, an extensive tree canopy and new lighting will also be added.
Scott Backman, the attorney representing MainStreet, presented how the new roads and intersections will be laid out throughout the development. He also showed where traffic signals and traffic calming devices will be placed.
The MainStreet development will include a 200-acre mixed-use development with an extensive greenway system, retailers, restaurants, a large grocery store, parks, a large gathering space, and residential neighborhoods.
