Coconut Creek native David Tuesta has officially been named the new head coach of the boys soccer team.
Tuesta takes over the program with more than 15 years of coaching experience, having previously played collegiately at Florida Gulf Coast University and Florida Atlantic University.
Born in Lima, Peru, and raised in South Florida, Tuesta developed as a player with Weston FC Academy before competing at the Division I level. He attended Monarch High School in 2004 before finishing high school online. During his coaching career, Tuesta has helped develop numerous collegiate athletes, youth national team players and professional players.
Tuesta has strong ties to Monarch, having attended the school before continuing his education at FAU, where he earned bachelor’s degrees in business management and accounting.
Away from soccer, Tuesta works as a project manager and brings a disciplined, analytical, and goal-oriented approach to coaching and player development. His coaching philosophy centers around helping players maximize their potential both on and off the field as he begins his tenure leading his former high school program.
Joining Tuesta’s staff is assistant coach Kevin Pham, who also brings an extensive soccer background to the Knights. Pham grew up playing in South Florida for one of the nation’s top-ranked youth academies, where his teammates included World Cup player Jozy Altidore, NCAA national champion Dillon Nino and professional player Shawn Barry.
Pham remained involved in soccer while attending FAU before graduating from the University of Central Florida with a degree in business. He currently works in the technology industry at Google while continuing to referee for U.S. Soccer.
The Knights are coming off a strong season in which they finished 15-5-4 and advanced to the Regional Final. Tuesta will now look to build on that success as he begins his first season leading his alma mater.
