Monarch High School has been the beneficiary of the fall football season in Coconut Creek, as they picked up their third win of the year.
The Knights dominated in a 42-8 win over Fort Lauderdale High School. Jack Spaeder threw for 405 yards and five touchdowns, with Samari Reed catching four of them and over 200 receiving yards. Chris Cortina caught the other pass for a score, while Bre’lan Mareus had a rushing touchdown.
“Great start to District Play,” Head Coach Calvin Davis said. “We need to clean up some things so we can make a run but proud of the guys how they bounced back after last week.”
Monarch also has wins this year against Peachtree Reige and Deerfield Beach High School. They are set to play Coral Springs High School in their next game on Thursday, September 26, at 7 p.m. The Colts are 0-5 this year and lost 48-0 in their matchup with Monarchs last year.
Coconut Creek High School lost against Cardinal Gibbons High School 27-25 and is 0-3 on the season. The Cougars will play Boyd H. Anderson High School in their next game on Friday, September 27, at 7 p.m. The Cobras are 3-3 this year with wins over Fort Lauderdale High School and Marjory Stoneman Douglas. Coconut Creek won by forfeit in their game last season to begin the year.
North Broward Prep football to 0-5 on the season after a 24-8 loss against Saint Andrews School. After being shut out in their first game, the Eagles fell 40-13 against Westminster Adacemy before scoring a season-high 35 points in a loss against Pembroke Pines Charter. NBP fell 42-7 on September 12 against American heritage
Next, the Eagles will play Somerset Academy Key on Thursday, September 26, at 6 p.m. The Lions have won against Berean Christian High School and Avant Garde Academy this year.
