Gabriela and Jeff Marder take coffee seriously, turning their long-dreamed-of coffee shop into reality at the Tarrazu Coffee Co. at 4863 Coconut Creek Parkway.
The Marders spent years working at various corporate and government jobs. They were looking for something else and decided it was time to make the move to open their coffee shop.
Gabriela’s family is from Costa Rica, and they believe this is where some of the best coffee is grown and produced. They visited the Tarrazu region of Costa Rica and found a farm that produced high-quality coffee and took care of its employees. They source all their coffee from one farm.
When they created Tarrazu Coffee Co., they wanted it to be a family for customers and team members. Gabriela has an outgoing personality and wants to create a positive vibe at the restaurant.
“I want this to be a place where people feel comfortable coming to have a cup of coffee and our food. If someone is lonely and meets a friend here, I am happy. If someone wants to spend the entire day here, that is good,” said Gabriela.
For Gabriela, creating a pleasant atmosphere is very important. “I have made friends here, and I have seen friendships form. For me, that is a reward,” she said. “Success is not measured by profits; it is measured by the relationships you create.”
The Grand Opening of their coffee shop was in April.
Tarrazu Coffee serves pastries, breakfast sandwiches, empanadas, cakes, and lunch sandwiches. It is open most days from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is closed on Sundays.
