Monarch and Coconut Creek High School wrestling teams competed in the postseason on Thursday at Fort Lauderdale High School.
The Knights finished in fourth place, led by Etha Pierce coming in second place. Naijul Lawrence, Sebastian Cardozo, and Marvin Cyriac came in third, while Eric Mattos finished fourth. For the girls, Sophomore Payton Moyer finished fourth and became the first girl from Monarch to qualify to States. Rosie Kleine finished one round shy of qualifying after an incredible season.
The Cougars finished seventh place, competing against Port St Lucie, South Fork, Okeechobee, Atlantic, Ft Pierce Westwood, Suncoast, and Northeast High School. Leonard Valsaint finished second, while Jakari Charles and Daniel Michel came in fourth. Berthaud Dorismond and Omarion Lane finished sixth.
Next, these two teams will compete in Regionals on Feb. 24-25 and South Dade Senior High School.
