After graduating from Marjory Stoneman Douglas in 2018, Andrew Siren continues honoring those lost in the massacre by wearing number 17 in college.
While at Lake Forest College, Siren was part of one of the best Division III teams in the country. He says this experience of playing college football has been one of the best experiences of his life with the bonds he made.
“Not only does the team push me to be better on the field but also pushes me to be a better man off the field,” Siren said. “Between the players and coaches, they always have my back both on and off the field if I need it. They just want me to succeed and be the best person I can be.”
This season, Siren caught seven passes for 41 yards, including a 20-yard reception against Lawrence. He previously caught six passes for 43 yards during his freshman season, where he was also named a Midwest Conference Academic Honoree.
While living in Las Vegas, Siren began playing tackle football at age six. In eighth grade, he moved to Florida and played for the Coral Springs Chargers before his high school years. He credits many of his high school coaches like Willis May and Quentin Short, his colleagues, friends, family, and coaches.
“I still love the game now as much as I did then,” Siren added. “There’s just something about putting on the pads. There’s no feeling like it.”
