A Parkland woman was arrested last week for allegedly throwing a full beverage can into a Jeep during a road rage incident, hitting the passenger in her face, court papers show.

Yanesis Hernandez, 22, of Largo Vista Circle, was arrested on Feb. 17 and charged with throwing a deadly missile into a vehicle in connection with the  November 2021 incident, according to an arrest affidavit.

According to Coral Springs Police, Hernandez told investigators the white Jeep cut off her black truck in the Walmart parking lot at 6001 Coral Ridge Drive.

The Jeep’s female driver told police Hernandez followed her out of the lot, with her sister also in the Jeep, while Hernandez honked her truck horn, flailed her arms, and yelled at the women, the affidavit states.

The women said Hernandez inched her truck closer to the Jeep’s passenger side before the drivers exchanged words at a red light with their windows down, the records show.

During the confrontation, Hernandez allegedly threw an aluminum can full of a liquid beverage through her window, striking the Jeep’s passenger in her face, records allege.

Hernandez allegedly kept following the Jeep, pursuing the woman into a shopping plaza while honking her horn, the records show. She then followed them into the We Kids Preschool parking lot, at 11401 NW 56th Dr., where one of the sisters had to pick up her child, the affidavit states.

Hernandez drove around the school parking lot seven times while one of the victims called 911 and reported her actions, records show.

In a statement Hernandez gave to police on Dec. 1, she recalled “having a bad day” before the Jeep’s driver cut her off outside Walmart. She said the Jeep’s driver also “flipped her off,” leading her to follow the Jeep, the records state.

Hernandez said she did not recall throwing anything out of her vehicle during the incident, the affidavit states.

She is currently free on a $5,000 bond, records show.
