Coconut Creek Police responded to various calls from June 24 to June 30. Below is a detailed account of the incidents handled by local law enforcement during this period.
Thefts, Burglaries, and Property Crimes
Sunglass Hut, 4431 Lyons Rd, reported a retail theft of designer sunglasses valued at $2,525 on June 24.
Publix Liquors, 4847 Coconut Creek Pkwy, reported a theft of alcohol totaling $427 on June 25.
Kohl’s, 6950 N State Road 7, reported two separate shoplifting incidents: one on June 22 totaling $884, and another on June 26 totaling $400.
Walmart, 5571 W Hillsboro Blvd, was targeted in two shoplifting cases—on June 28 ($218) and June 29 ($158).
A mail package valued at $350 was reported stolen from Banyan Bay on June 24.
A purse was stolen from a vehicle after its window was smashed at LA Fitness on June 29. Estimated loss: $50.
A residential burglary occurred at Wynmoor on June 26, with an estimated loss of $102,000. Entry was made through the rear of the condo.
Multiple lost or stolen property reports were filed, including a lost wallet at Walmart (June 28) and another at 1000 Coconut Creek Blvd (June 24).
Vehicle Thefts
Vehicles were reported stolen from the following areas:
Tradewinds Apartments, reported June 24.
Preserve at Cypress Hammocks, reported June 25.
Tallowwood Isle, reported June 29.
A stolen Range Rover out of Palm Beach was recovered at Banyan Bay on June 27.
Criminal Mischief and Suspicious Incidents
At Applewood Village III, damage was reported to a pool meter door between June 25–26.
Multiple suspicious incidents were investigated at addresses including:
Windsor, 5621 Winston Park Blvd (June 24).
Promenade, 4441 Lyons Rd (June 29), involving four trespassed subjects.
Police Department lobby, 4800 W Copans Rd, involving a fraud complaint totaling $935.
Assaults and Domestic Incidents
A simple battery was reported at Waterview Apartments on June 25.
On June 27, a battery occurred at Broward College; the victim was given a complaint packet.
A domestic disturbance occurred at Baywood Village 2 on June 29 with no injuries or arrests.
A separate battery involving a law enforcement officer occurred in Golden Raintree V on June 27; the suspect was taken to juvenile detention.
Elder Abuse and Missing Persons
Two reports of elderly abuse/neglect were investigated—one at Country Lakes on June 26 and another at Wynmoor on June 28; both were deemed unfounded.
A missing elderly male from Country Lakes was located in Martin County on June 26.
A 16-year-old juvenile was reported missing from Sunshine Dr, last seen June 17.
Fraud and Other Notables
A resident of 5640 NW 61st St reported a fraud case totaling $30,000 between June 25–29.
A false imprisonment and carjacking case involving a male victim with an estimated loss of $20,400 occurred on June 24.
A suspicious death investigation took place at the Hampton Inn Hotel, 5740 N State Road 7, on June 28.
Baker Acts and Police Assists
Several individuals were Baker Acted throughout the week, including at Country Lakes, Buttonwood Hammocks, Baywood 3, and Coco Bay.
Police assisted with Baker Acts, capias warrants, and fraud investigations at multiple locations including Tamarind Village and Country Lakes.
Arrests
Ira Rushing, 46, was arrested on June 24 at 4200 Winston Park Blvd for possession of cocaine. On June 25, he was also charged with possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon.
A male suspect was arrested for felony theft at Walmart on June 28.
A suspect was arrested for trespassing at Promenade, 4400 Lyons Rd, on June 28.
