
Coconut Creek Community Center {Coconut Creek}
Young wordsmiths will have a chance to show off their spelling skills as the City of Coconut Creek hosts its annual Back-to-School Spelling Bee on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
The competition takes place at the Coconut Creek Community Center, 1100 Lyons Road, with separate sessions based on grade level.
Students entering second and third grades, ages 8 to 9 as of Aug. 31, 2027, will compete from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Students entering fourth and fifth grades, ages 10 to 11, will compete from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m.
The top three finishers in each session will receive prizes.
Registration is $5 for Coconut Creek residents and $10 for non-residents. Space is limited to 20 participants per session, and registration will remain open until all spots are filled.
To qualify for the resident rate, participants must provide a state-issued driver’s license or valid passport along with proof of Coconut Creek residency, such as a voter registration card, water bill, cable bill, or electric bill. Utility bills must be dated within two months of submission. Payment is accepted by credit card only.
Families can register online through the city’s WebTrac system at CoconutCreek.gov/WebTrac or register in person at the Community Center or the Recreation Complex, 4455 Sol Press Blvd.
When registering a minor, legal guardians must also provide proof of residency and a copy of the child’s birth certificate for age verification.
