The postseason is set to get underway as volleyball teams in Coconut Creek wrapped up the regular season and recognized their seniors.
Monarch High School beat Coral Springs High School in four sets on Tuesday in their final home match, 25-13, 18025, 25-20, 25-21. Chloe Mercurio, Elinor Shamai, and Brooke Yuknus were the three seniors on the team before the Knights lost in five sets in their final match against Charles W Flangan High School 25-21, 25, 22, 23,25, 25,25, 7-15.
Monarch is seeded fifth and will play J.P. Taravella High School in the opening round of the District Tournament on Tuesday, October 10, at 4 p.m. The Trojans are 11-8 this year, marking the first matchup between these two teams this season. The winner will play top-seeded Marjory Stoneman Douglas in the Semifinals, while Boca Raton, Coral Glades, Spanish River, and Piper High School are in the bottom half of the draw.
Coconut Creek High School had only two wins during the regular season and will be seeded fourth in the District Tournament. They are set to play Blanche Ley High School on Monday, October 13, at 6 pm. The Tigers have also won two games, including one against the Cougars. Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School is the top seed and will play the winner, while Northeast and Atlantic High School will each play after receiving a bye in the first round.
North Broward Prep completed the regular season with a 19-2 record and is the 14th-ranked team in the state. They recently won the Palm Beach Tournament Finals after beating Saint Andrew’s School and Prince Crest on Wednesday. Their only two losses came in a tournament, and recently recognized Riley Dynan and Chelsea Ventura. Daisa Johnson, Yasmin Dias Tonon, Ava Swartman, Layni Tobias, and Kate Lynch.
The Eagles are the top seed in the District Tournament and will play the winner of Suncoast and Boynton Beach High School on Wednesday, October 15 at p.m. The Eagles have not played either team this year, while Dreyfoos School of the Arts is seeded second and will play either Pompano Beach or Stranahan High School.
